Spring Has Arrived!

It's April 7. I just watched the Japanese Grand Prix run on Suzuka, a track built in 1962 and there was no lack of photos of the cherry trees in bloom. So at least somewhere in the world spring has arrived. As you will recall we had hail, sleet, and snow just a couple of days ago. The weather here precipitated a drive I'd wanted to take for a few years. So I went to North Carolina and Tennessee a couple of weekends ago to run the Blue Ridge Parkway with my son. This road is a bucket list drive for both myself and Matt. The temperature at the start was just above freezing and would rise to better than 70 degrees. We started our drive at 7 am in Cherokee NC. If you haven't been to Cherokee it's beautiful, but the poverty is a bit disconcerting. There are several museums and art galleries along the river area, but none of them are open. But if you need a genuine Cherokee peace pipe made in China they can hook you up all day long.

We had the road to ourselves for the better part of 3 hours. At elevation, I have no doubt you can see for 30 miles or more, it's just spectacular. The BRP was started at the turn of the 20th century and was never designed to be an interstate-type drive, 45 mph is more than sufficient. My son being 27 has no concept of his mortality, I on the other hand do. So while the views at that elevation are spectacular and are unencumbered by metal guardrails,  the feeling of impending doom did raise its head a few times.

Off To A Great Start

We've already had several events play out in the last few weeks and so far all have been well attended and successful.

Everything we do at this point forward will be on our website. I’m incredibly grateful to my team that have spearheaded this endeavor and very pleased with the way it looks and the way it is developing. I will continue to get e-blasts out as it seems the most efficient way to get immediate information out to you. The Bent Pylon is still under development and we are working on a solution to get a magazine look on the website. The biggest obstacle is creating and acquiring content but we're working to streamline it and make it easier for our committee heads and members to get material in the monthly.

We are combining our “market” with PCAs market and will be available on our website and the PCAs simultaneously. The Merchandise Shop for OVR is live on the website.

Any questions or concerns don't hesitate to reach out.
