Just when I think I have seen it all…the motor hit the ground! Yes, that’s what I said. The motor hit the ground! Coming out of turn 7 at Putnam Park the rear motor support where it bolts to the mounts broke and the engine fell to the ground. The good news is that the muffler is the lowest point so it took all the force and the motor case is fine. I wasn’t the most popular guy at the track though; it took almost an hour to get the car off the track. Fortunately, part of the time was during lunch break. First we had to get a strap under the engine and hoist the engine before lifting the chassis. Then gently drag the whole thing back to the paddock. The crew at Putnam did a great job. The brace has been welded and reinforced with additional metal and the car is back in operation. Hopefully, I can check this off the list of things I never want to experience again. I hope to see you at our annual “Palooza” party at Porsche of the Village on November 8th. This is a great opportunity in a casual environment to meet your fellow OVR members or reconnect with some friends.
